Area Police
Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior representative said the vandalism made him stunned and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
